The American Dream

The American Dream is the idea that all people in a democratic society can achieve their goals, which may include success in a job, happiness in life, a less rigid class structural system and no constraints imposed on an individual due to race, ethnicity, gender, beliefs or sexual orientation.

  1. What is happiness in life? That is something that might need more definition.

  2. To argue against finding success in a job, maybe a person simply wants a job that will feed the family but doesn't require its success.

  3. Isn't there more to the American Dream goals? like traveling or would go under happiness in life?

  4. Your definition will require you to define your qualifiers. What is success? What is happiness? Because success and happiness are debatable terms as well.

  5. You might need to define your qualifiers in this definition. success? happiness in life?

  6. America actually has a lot of class structure, so you might want to go more in depth on that aspect too.

  7. Defining your qualifiers might make this thesis stronger!

  8. Make sure your qualifiers are stronger, happiness is something in itself that can be argued. If you get that cleared up so that just "the American dream" is arguable, I think you will be good.

  9. Is the American dream available in countries besides America? Because "the idea that all people in a democratic society can achieve their goals, which may include success in a job, happiness in life, a less rigid class structural system and no constraints imposed on an individual due to race, ethnicity, gender, beliefs or sexual orientation" exist in a majority of countires.

  10. I was going to do this very same topic, but i gave up..... seems like you have a strong definition... a topic like this will always be arguable because there's no actual definition for this, and also it varies within people's perspectives.

  11. This already seems like the standard "American Dream" definition. Your qualifiers might need more defining. You need to clear that up. What is success? What is happiness? This ambiguity should not be in your thesis.

  12. I think this can be an arguable definition, but i think is is very similar to the American dream definition. You should change it a little.

  13. You may want to add some clarification by defining your qualifiers. Also I'm not sure this is very controversial definition. I think that many people would agree with this definition.

  14. Very hard thing to define. You have a couple good qualifiers that really make it a strong definition. I liked it because it is very debatable
